A Proposal

Greetings, residents.

I trust this finds you all in good health and positive spirits. I am a relatively new arrival to this place, having got to grips with the basics over the last few weeks. I am aware that a number of others have likewise arrived recently, hailing as I understand it from a variety of ages and locales. My companion and I, for our part, have found much to learn, and not a little to unlearn.

I recognise that this situation is rather an unusual one, and as such I take it upon myself to suggest that we – by which I mean the recently arrived – might find it of some benefit to work together to pool our knowledge. I am open to ideas on what this "pooling" may consist of, but at the very least we ought to convene face to face at some point to share what information we each have individually and contribute to a whole sum of wisdom.

Some of us may have arrived with more understanding of the technological advancements of this place, I accept, but we all have knowledge to share, and no knowledge is too small to be of benefit to the whole.

With sincere hope for your engagement,

Jack Rackham

( on the one hand, not a terrible idea; on the other, he hates it. )

That's a lot of people to invite into one space.

Obligations don't do anyone any favors.

But I was speaking practically. How do you expect everyone with something worth saying to have space to say it? Without your townhall or whatever dragging on for hours.

Would your sum of wisdom prefer blind agreement?

Share skillsets. Knowledge is better gleaned from anyone here longer than "new" arrivals, what we have in equal stead is a lack of stability and more debt than most care to carry.

And keep in mind one man's unusual in another man's day ending in -y.

Are you dead?

( —the question's meant in earnest, not facetious shit-stirring. )

I was shot. Last thing I remember is bleeding out on the top floor of a high-rise.

Yes.

( immediate, quick, without even a hint of consideration: man is certain.

a moment, then— )

Don't get me wrong, I know this isn't the afterlife.

( it's fortunate that marc doesn't have an iphone, otherwise that little would be going on for way longer than is really necessary.

"I thought it was all in my head to begin with"? no, not really the comment to lead with.

but true. )

1/
I don't have one. There are people with names I recognize from my world, but they're not the people I know. Not unusual in my line of work, but given my experiences before waking to find Yom Crook and pals in my face...

2/
Maybe a test, ( because that'd fit with Some Other Experiences, ) but I don't know enough to begin to guess.

3/3
It's quieter than I'm used to.
